Head of Design

We are looking for a New York or Tallinn based Head of Design to oversee our product design, user research functions and act as a player-coach in our team. You will collaborate with the founding team to shape product direction, vision and strategy. With your thoughtful leadership, you will oversee, advocate for, and scale a team of product designers, balancing innovation and speed to market. You’ll have a tremendous and far reaching impact on our product and company.

You would:

• Drive the design strategy and roadmap alongside the founding team
• Roll up your sleeves and do hands on design work as player-coach
• Work closely with Product, Engineering and Business Development to gain a full understanding of design needs, shape and fulfill various strategies
• Build and lead a growing team of designers
• Support the design team in achieving a high level of craft excellence - everything from user research practices, to visual design, interaction details, and overall product direction
• Develop tools and processes to improve team efficiency and speed
• Impact business goals through effective and efficient development of design solutions
• Keep up with the audio-video landscape to design market leading features for our product
• Deliver immediate impact on our product and measurable value to customers

You'll fit right in if you've got:

• A portfolio of design projects that shows strong product design process and craft skills
• 8+ years of experience building and shipping world-class products across various platforms, including proven experience managing a team of designers
• Experience working with SaaS, B2B or other complex technical systems
• Experience in helping scale and grow an early-stage startup and you know what it takes
• Passion for understanding user needs and pain points, segment macro and micro trends, and concepting and building products to deliver on these needs
• Proven ability to deliver value to customers
• A player-coach approach
• Owner mentality. You're a mature operator, self-motivated and technically strong. You care deeply about efficiency, improving products, processes and teams
• Great communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate your design decisions and how they relate to the problem you’re solving
• Ability to coordinate work across geographically distributed teams with only high-level direction. You thrive in a highly dynamic and entrepreneurial environment
